How To Network Using Twitter
November 20th, 2009
You have no doubt already heard of the social networking site Twitter, which, despite only having being around a relatively short period of time, is now one of the most popular sites on the whole of the Internet. Some people are still not convinced of its value as a genuine marketing tool, but serious marketers have not only realized that, but are already using it to drive traffic to their web properties and, ultimately, to make money.
The first step to taking advantage of the benefits that it offers is to follow, and be followed, by those with the same interests as you. Don’t limit yourself to just those people who you actually know, anyone who operates in the same niche or niches as you is an option.
Once you have a decent number of followers, it’s time to start tweeting. Bear in mind that when you tweet, self promotion isn’t the aim – always think about what your can genuinely offer others. There have been many spoofs of Twitter in the form of comics and videos which comment on how some people like to tweet about their everyday lives. Each and every one of your tweets should provide value to your followers (some, if not all of them), and that means they need to be telling them something useful that they probably don’t already know.
There are also a plethora of tools on the Internet that integrate with Twitter to provide greater functionality and options. These tools can be used to automate tasks which you may find are taking up too much of your time. Twitter is a social networking site though, and people often forget about the social aspect of it. If you are truly interested in networking with people on Twitter, then try not to automate anything. While it does save time to automate parts of your Twitter account, doing so will make you seem less interested in your followers.
Twitter is a great networking tool because it allows you to get in touch with people who you wouldn’t otherwise have a chance to meet. A great way to start a conversation with someone on Twitter is to either ask them a question, or answer one of their questions. Comments may be ignored, but if you help them or ask them for help, you are more likely to elicit a response from them. This is especially useful for networking with experts in your field.
If you tweet and interact with certain individuals long enough, they’ll start trusting and respecting you. Once there is trust and respect between you, then that’s when a viral networking effect begins. The consequence being that once you have built a small network on Twitter, and are an active user, your follower base will start to grow significantly without any specific additional efforts by you. When people see something funny, it is common to tell a friend about it as soon as possible. It is kind of the same principle on Twitter. When serious Twitter users see something cool, they’ll tweet about it. When they find someone worth following, they’ll recommend that their followers follow this person as well.

Use Twitter To Focus on Business
August 31st, 2009
Twitter has taken over the social networking portion of the Internet in a very short time. It is now the number three social networking site on the Internet behind Facebook and MySpace. Twitter may not be number one but it is growing fast and it won’t take long for it to get to the top spot position.
Twitter allows 140 characters maximum for each post they call a tweet. This ensures that twitter stays fast moving, exciting, fast-paced and forces you to be short and concise with your messages. This is a good thing, because of the readers are more inclined to read a short message in a very long post. With hundred 40 characters is a limit you need to make sure that you get right to the point. Don’t waste time with extraneous conversation such as this is what I referenced all of this and I’m about to do now but it really doesn’t matter.
This is different than a webpage or weblog, or even an e-mail in that the 140 character limit allows you to focus your message so that your reader understands what your niche is all about. You can also include links in your 140 character limit message, these links can go to other webpages, blogs, videos, or audio messages. Webpages and blogs are more about just giving out information so even the best blog updates itself once or twice a day. This is Web 1.0. However the social networking sites are updated every few seconds. This is Web 2.0.
There are also many other twitter applications that are third party in nature that will help twitter to be a more effective tool for your business use. If your friends, and other acquaintances, or even relatives use twitter you might want to invite them to follow you.
You can also take advantage of other applications that help you to use twitter more efficiently and to get more out of it. There are applications that make twitter easier-to-use as well as ones that can help you find followers that are more targeted to your interests.
In order to get more traffic would twitter you should follow the experts in your field. It is best to get as miniature followers as you possibly can. You can accomplish this by following a lot of people, and you have about a 50% chance of them following you back. This strange twitter rule that is unwritten but it makes twitter more enjoyable. Make it very easy to make friends and followers, but that’s just the beginning. You need to develop these relationships once you have your foot in the door as a follower.
Once they follow you back, you should take the time if you can send them a message saying thank you. Another trick is to un follow any of those people that have not followed you back within three days. This will keep the total number of people that you are following to a minimum.
The twitter community relies on each others treating each twitter with respect. Because it is so easy to un-follow is a very low tolerance for bad behavior. If someone doesn’t like how you’re acting or what you’re writing they will simply stop following you.

What I Do Not Comprehend About Part Time Blogging
July 17th, 2009
How many people are part time bloggers? I read somewhere that somewhere in the world a new blog is started every second.
Do we really have any idea how many blog posts are made every day?
I think there is probably conflicting data about blogging anyway. However there is one thing that I really do not understand and that is why do people start blogs and abandon them so quickly?
There certainly is a trend towards social networking today. Twitter for example is micro blogging.
These are short blog posts of 140 characters or less known as tweets. You can’t do a lot with them yet there was so much action when Michael Jackson died it brought the Twitter system down.
Facebook has millions of members and is an enormously active social networking site. It almost becomes the focal point of some people’s lives because they take it too seriously.
Back to the question about blogging however and that is why are blogs started and dropped so quickly? One possible answer is not every person is on the computer all the time. It does take a little bit of effort to login to your blog and post an article of a couple hundred words.
Some people start a blog with the idea that they are going to turn it into an Internet. They really want to make money online and blogging seems like a good way to do it.
When they find out how much work marketing a blog is they decide to stop.
Some people are busy! They may not even be aware that they can hire a blog writer to write content for their blogs. They also may not be aware of how to keep their blog up to date with various content feeds.
Certainly if you are going to start a blog you need to take the time to keep adding fresh content to it. This is especially true if you’re trying to make money with your blog. Search engines love fresh content and so do your readers.
I know when some people look at how good their competitors blogs are it discourages them. There are so many social media tools available now to make a blog really electrifying you need to step up and use some of them if you want to be noticed.
Certainly videos add a lot to a blog. Many bloggers are not informed they can go to You Tube and use the videos there on their own blog. They think they need to develop videos of their own and that definitely seems like a lot of work so they do not even try.
So for whatever reason people start and stop blogs and this has happened right now as I have been writing this article. Hopefully you will stay dedicated to your blog and get out of it what you started it for.

A Craigslist Blog is a popular tool with members of the established social networking site simply known as Craigslist. WordPress and Blogger are very effective blogging sites and will undoubtedly provide online business owners with a substantial amount of visitors to any site, but a Craigslist blog can provides three unique opportunities that some blogging sites can’t offer.

Members of Craigslist have a wide range of interests and it is a friendly place for like-minded individuals to meet. Knowing that you can focus on a certain segment (or more) of this community affords you the chance to zero in on potential customers with considerable ease.

3) A blogging spouse? The one good thing about having a blog at Craigslist is the social interaction. All of these great features and unique adventures makes Craigslist a nice online community with a lot of friendly interaction on a daily basis. Having a blog – Craigslist blog to be specific – can bring a concentrated set of very friendly visitors to your website with immediate results. And who doesn’t want a friendly customer?

Knowing how to use this blog and the features that Craigslist offers can be a winning combination for your website. It costs nothing to join and you will be united with like-minded individuals who will bring their friendliness and enthusiastic buying power to you site.
