Promote, promote, promote! That’s what it takes to earn real money in affiliate program sales. If you are new, it is hugely important to keep your costs to a minimum. Here are four ways to promote your affiliate product without ever spending a single penny in advertising.

1. Start by writing an article.

Article writing is one the best, cheapest, most effective ways of getting the word out on your affiliate product. If you are any good at all at writing, getting published is a cinch. But here’s the key: don’t be too blatant about your product in your article!

Publish your article in the top five or six article directories. Then, rewrite your article and publish in the next ten to twenty most popular directories. The purpose of the rewrite is to prevent the search engines from clobbering you with a duplicate content penalty.

Here is a strict guideline: Do NOT talk about your product directly. Instead, give the reader good quality content about your niche. If your niche is to do with building doll houses, then give the reader a good article on how to solve (say) the top three most common problems in building doll houses.

The best article directories— the ones you should be dealing with regularly— will never allow you to do a straight affiliate program sales pitch. You need to be a little subtle about it!

You have to give; only then can you take. Your resource box may contain your website (top level domain only). You have a good chance of getting the reader’s click if you have earned it by first giving good information.

This strategy alone will help you earn real money.

But hold on— there’s more!

2. Now re-write your article as a tutorial. Educational and tutorial sites like eHow are great places to publish this sort of content. To turn your article into a tutorial, you will need to change the wording and the lay-out to give it more of a “how-to” feel. Very few article writers would ever think to take advantage of the good traffic that tutorial sites get. And… it’s FREE.

3. And now… turn your tutorial into a Powerpoint slideshow! You can submit to sites like Slideshare for nothing. Place your URL in the Powerpoint, and take advantage of another powerful source of traffic that is still… yep, FREE!

4. And now, turn your Powerpoint into a video, using Camtasia if you want to spend money, or using CamStudio if you want to do it for free.

You can make your video fresh, if you like, but since you already have the Powerpoint, why not recycle your work by simply adding a voiceover? Use your own voice if you like (it’s free, after all!), or outsource this if you think you lack dramatic flair.

If you really, really want to spend money on video, try Article Video Robot. They are a monthly paid service who turn articles into videos with music and voiceover. I have never tried them myself, so I can’t vouch for them. Why don’t you give them a shot, and then… write an article about it?!

The results of your efforts? You wrote one article, and then recycled it into three different formats!

There are plenty of other sources of free traffic. Article directories and social bookmarking sites are among the most popular, but they are only the tip of a very large iceberg.

If you are willing to put in the work of converting your article into some non-article format, there will almost certainly be some way of getting it into the public domain at no cost. Pdf.’s. .exe files and RSS feeds are all sources of traffic you can exploit. You can try these out on your own.

Top 7 Blogging Mistakes

Blogging is one of my most favorite online marketing activities, and has had a tremendous impact on my online success. It a great way for me to share the vast information I’ve learned about online marketing, costing me thousands and thousands of dollars.

Blogging is very simple, but there are some basic mistakes that you need to avoid.

Avoiding these 7 blogging mistakes will improve your online results:

Mistake #1: Not making your articles attractive to the eye. Make sure you have a good color scheme, your font is readable, and your blog has a nice clean layout.

Mistake #2: Writing complex, paragraph-long sentences, especially if there is a hidden underlying meaning. Keep your sentences and paragraphs short, and use language that is easy for your target market to understand.

It is important to keep your paragraphs to 2-3 sentences long. This may result in paragraph breaks at non traditional locations. It’s ok, your goal is to make your blog easy for your readers to read. Long blocks of text are not easy to read online, so keep things short.

Mistake #3: Not writing in a conversational style. You should pretend you are writing to one person, and one person only, your ideal reader. Write as if you are talking to them one-on-one. Don’t be afraid to express your opinions too.

Mistake #4: Not spell checking your articles before publishing them. Misspelled words are annoying to many people and will make you seem careless and uneducated.

Mistake #5: Writing for search engines, not humans. If you use keywords to get traffic from the search engines, make sure the article still reads well for humans, your ultimate customer. Getting search engine traffic doesn’t do you any good if your readers can’t follow your writing easily.

Mistake #6: Writing to make money, not because you like the topic. If you are passionate about your topic, it will come across in your writing and your readers will pick up on it.

Mistake #7: Not engaging your readers. Try not to make your blog a one-way dialog with your readers. Try to get your readers involved in discussions. Directly ask them to leave their thoughts and opinions in the comments area. Get them to interact and share their knowledge.

There are many other potential blog mistakes you can make, but focus on avoiding these 7 and you will have a blog that rocks!

SEO 2.0 – What I’ve Learned

I’m going to do something insane and tell the truth about my experience with SEO. I know only a very small amount about it, especially the technical terms and what exactly makes it work. I do know the rudiments and I’ve been able to get decent search engine traffic prior to learning several things of late.

Here are the basics that I knew before to watching SEO Demystified by Ferny Ceballos and Raymond Fong and taking the Social Media Science course and using the SYNND software by Charles Heflin.

1. Blogs are the best way to get search engine traffic because you are consistently updating it and the search engines love fresh content.

2. Self-hosted wordpress is the most appropriate blog format to use as in my tests it got more search engine traffic more easily than blogger. The plugins you can use like All-in-one SEO helps you set up the title, description and keywords properly on each page and post and XML Sitemaps, DDSitemap Gen helps your site to get listed and updated on the search engines.

3. You need to write articles that are content rich consistently that target your audience.

4. You need to write articles on article directories with bank-links to your site and anchor text that has the keywords that you are targeting with your site.

5. Somehow social media sites contribute to your ranking though I did not understand which type or even the best way to do this.

I had little to know knowledge of the details. After listening to SEO Demystified and taking the Social Media Science courses I understand the following.

1. Put categories on your blog with keywords that you wish to use to target your audience. The categories enable you to sort your articles in the silo format that the search engines love.

2. Ensure that your site is social media friendly with the ShareThis wp plugin so that when people read and enjoy your blog they can share it with others. When they share your blog on these social media sites it gives you an incoming link on the search engines.

3. Make sure that your title and descriptions within your All-in-One SEO plugin contains keywords relevant to your article and that also target your audience.

4. Don’t use social media like del.icio.us, reddit, digg, etc. to bookmark your own page as this will at some point lead to your site getting slapped by the search engines.

5. Become a part of a Content Syndication Network that allows for others to do your social media marketing for you. Basically you do their promotion and in turn they do yours.

Based upon applying these principles in one week I have been able to get my Magnetic Sponsoring Review site to rank number 14 on Google. So number 4 on page 2. I’m excited about this and as I continue to learn from Ferny and Ray as well as participating in my CSN I know that this will rise. I’m certain that with continuing the link building process I will continue to raise my Magnetic Sponsoring site in rankings, leads and income.

Why are you blogging? Do you just make it for fun -sharing stories and pictures with your friends- or you actually plan to build some passive income with it?

Because people get traffic to their blogs mostly from the organic search they will work hard so their blogs can hit the first page of the search engines and take the full benefit of being there.

To get your blogs reached the top position is not a sky-rocket science provided you know how to choose the right niche and keywords. However most bloggers made mistakes by depending on factors they can’t control. You can’t ask Google for example to put your blog on the first position forever. It is actually Google who controls our blogs ranking.

Don’t risk yourself by letting Google control your blogs and your income. Depending on free traffic is not always a good thing to do. A lot of online marketers lost their money everyday due to the Google dance. What can you do when suddenly your blogs are found nowhere on the search engine pages?

To prevent such disaster happen to your online income you have to build a list of your visitors’ email addresses while the search engines still deliver good quantity of free traffic to your blog. You can give something valuable for free in exchange for your visitors’ email addresses. Nobody will refuse to receive something useful. Once you have your list actually you are building your own market.

The good thing about having your own market is you don’t depend on the generosity of the search engines to drive traffic to your blog. Instead you can send promo emails to people in your list in a single click of your mouse.

Never let your blogs’ visitors leave without joining your list. Maintain a good relationship and you can market your products to your people better than depending on the free traffic visitors. It’s several times easier to profit from EXISTING customers than it is to go and find new ones.

The second half of the first decade in this new century has seen the rise of an internet phenomenon â weblogs or blogs for short.
