What Does It Take To Be A MLM Leader?

Alright folks, no more looking for an MLM Leader that you can follow. That leader that you are looking for is already present. It is you and you must step up to plate and become that leader. All of the top income earners in any network marketing business will be leaders. Just look at your own company as an example; they are the top leaders in your company. You will not find someone that just happened to find 5 people that really took off and created a residual income for that person. Each of those top income earners are leaders.
What separates these leaders from the rest of the group is that they took action and became a leader that people would want to follow. It is easy to sponsor new distributors when you are a leader because people want to follow you. They know that you can help them succeed. Think about it, would you rather join someone that is endlessly sponsoring new reps and coaching them to succeed as well or do you want to be sponsored by someone who is absolutely struggling or even worse is not doing anything at all for the advancement of their business.
As a leader you must have know and have some important things in place to succeed. You have to know how to teach new marketing skills. Although there are many marketing strategies that work, not all necesarily are Next, do you have a system in which your entire team can utilize and achieve success as well while utilizing a variety of marketing strategies?
The kind of system you need to have in place will allow anyone you recruit to be able to use easily, profit quickly, and effortlessly sponsor new reps. Should You Join A Direct Sales Company?

You probably know someone who is involved with a direct sales company – think Avon, Tupperware and Mary Kay Cosmetics, Fuller Brush or Watkins are the old standbys. Some of these companies have been around for over 100 years! Jusuru and Mia Bella Candles are the new kids on the block. Each individual company has its own product line, pay plan, training and overall culture or feel. Before you join any direct sales company, it is extremely important to do some research on the different companies.
Direct Sales Advantages
You can start with little cash outlay. It is less risky and less expensive to join a direct sales company than it is to open your own storefront on Main Street. Good companies are not trying to make money on their starter kits. Most cost under $200. Some companies let you earn your kits and pay for it through your sales. Other companies are free to join. A starter kit should come with all of the materials you need to get your business off the ground, including catalogs, some samples and order forms. You might need a license to operate a business from your home. Check with your city officials. As your business grows, most independent consultants use some kind of contact management program, either online or software that is installed on their computer. Cost ranges anywhere from $15/month to $250 for a one-time software purchase. Consider purchasing financial or bookkeeping software.
You are in charge of your earnings. Independent consultants are not paid a salary or by the hour. They work on commission. That means for each sale you make you earn a percentage of the cost. So, the harder you work, the more you sell and the more money you earn. When researching a company be sure to ask any questions you have, no matter how small. Be completely clear on the compensation plan before you agree to join.
You are in charge of your schedule. This is both a positive and a negative aspect. On the positive side, you are able to work your family life into your work schedule. But, if you are lazy and unmotivated, you may not get much done. It is important to make work something you do regularly.
Drawbacks of Direct Sales
Work on commission. Working on commission can be a godsend if you are consistently applying yourself to growing your home business. Commission will never materialize if you lack sales skills and the determination to get your product into the hands of people who will buy it.
Advertising. Without some sort of advertising budget, your business will not grow. Nobody will know about it. Word-of-mouth is great free advertising, but you cannot rely on it as your sole means of getting the word out about your product. A combination of paid and free advertising in varied media works best.
Your chance of success is only 5%. The failure rate of network marketing consultants is astronomical; a good 95% call it quits in the first three months. If you are going to make your business work, you must give it more time to grow. Three months is not even enough time to really learn the product well.
Skills Needed
Communication Skills. Sales in a person-to-person business. It does not matter what the product is. You must be able to convey an honest, enthusiastic attitude to potential clients without pressuring them to purchase or join. Can you handle rejection? If not, you will need to learn how because you will be rejected more often than not. If you hold a grudge about it, you will soon find yourself without any friends.
Keeping Organized. If you have to pick through piles of sticky notes and scraps of paper to find a phone number or someone’s order, you are losing a lot of time that could be spent earning money! Keep yourself organized, especially financially, and you will find that your stress level goes down and productivity goes up.
Self-discipline. You must be able to work alone. You must be able to motivate yourself to meet your deadlines, make your calls and get your advertising out by the deadlines you set.
Commitment. Decide if you want to be one of the 95% of independent consultants who quit within the first three months or if you want to be one of the 5%. Make goals and meet them. Hang in there when things get tough…for at least a full 12 months.
How to Choose a Company
Determine how long the company has been around. Focus on companies that have a track record of at least two years. More is better. Many, many (most) direct sales are not in business two years from opening.
How much does the starter kit cost? If you cannot afford the kit, you can borrow from friends or charge it. Or, you can move on to a company whose kit you can afford. If you really want to work with a particular company, but you cannot afford the kit, another alternative is to save up for it. Stay away from putting it on a credit card or borrowing money.
Is there a monthly sales quota? Many direct sales companies have monthly quotas. Can you afford to commit yourself to a $40 per month (for example) sales quota? If not, look for a company without a quota or one that you can afford.
What is the company’s reputation? Disgruntled former consultants will lay it out for all to see. If there are more negative comments on a network marketing forum or board, look elsewhere. Of course, most companies will have one or two negatives. It is the overall pattern you are researching.
You have a lot of research ahead of you before you sign on as a consultant with a direct sales company. This is a time for you to be thorough, cautious and to apply your critical thinking skills. It is very, very easy to get caught up in making an emotional decision. The prizes, the potential earnings and the promise of easy sales (”the product practically sells itself”) can override your sensibilities. If direct sales is appealing to you, take the time to do your research and make decisions that will benefit you and your family in the long term; you do not have to rush. Any direct sales company worth associating yourself with will understand that and encourage you to join when you are ready, not before.

The excitement of a new company causes many people to stir with much anticipation. Each of these MLM companies will be advertising that they will be the best MLM company to join, and will tell you to be sure to get in during the prelaunch.
It is not like you failed in your previous MLM because of these factors they are presenting to you. You keep thinking of all these various reasons why you could not succeed before, but now this changes everything, this new MLM in prelaunch will be your ticket out! But that is all about to change, because you have now found the best new thing and they are only in prelaunch! When you signup during a prelaunch, you will sold on the fact that you will have a large downline as soon as the company opens it’s doors and begins selling product. you may also be told that your distributor fees are reduced or waived. completely.
All of these dreams, statements, and ideas are the farthest thing from the truth. The truth is that you will be stuck in exactly the same place you were before unless you change something about yourself. I remember when I first wanted a puppy. An MLM Pre-launch is just like that.
