How To Find The Best Home Based Business
July 14th, 2010
Prior to the current economic collapse, people worldwide were already searching for the best possible businesses that were home based.
Since the turn of the century, the worldwide workforce has experienced some notable changes. An understanding has developed that the best way to create security is to own your own business and remove yourself form the corporate hamster wheel.
This expansion in entrepreneurship has had the effect that millions of people are investigating the best home based businesses looking for a suitable match in style and cost.
The first question a person should ask themselves is this: “Am I really looking for a business?” and if so ” Why”
What is going to drive you to do what it takes to succeed?
Often, people are enamored with the “idea” of a business and make the deadly mistake of not getting themselves to answer these questions!
In many situations, it is evidence of bad planning. You cannot start a viable business today without adequate money available to fund it.
In reality, if you constantly find yourself in the situation where you are worried about money and have trouble meeting your obligations. The last thing you need at present is your own business. You have to adjust your priorities and resign yourself to generating income from paid employment. The only exception to this would be if you do have savings, or access to capital through your good credit or generous family or friends.
If you still see yourself as a home based business candidate after that assessment, what I am going to say next is crucially important for you. I know from decades of personal experience that it can be disastrous to ignore this important recommendation.
Keep your paid employment until you see the revenue from your home business exceed your other income for at least a 6 month period of time
It doesn’t matter what kind of business you are in, Direct sales, affiliate programs, MLM or Internet marketing the same rule applies and it should never be ignored.
Look, you want to tell your boss to take a hike, you want to get off the hamster wheel once and for all. The things is, if you don’t heed this pearl of wisdom you are going to end up in the classifieds again in a few months seeking a new job. Going full time too soon is the death knell for more home business owners than anything else.
Doesn’t this make sense? If you can’t make money on a part time basis, just adding more “time” into the mix is not likely to change things. In reality you can make great progress in building a good income stream as a part timer working 15 to 20 hours per week with consistent effort. it is not difficult for a committed person to find that much time by maybe easing up on watching TV or putting non income producing hobbies on the back burner.
Look, wouldn’t your sacrifice something for twelve months for a lifetime of freedom?
Surely you cannot say “No” to that?
Fine, so you are still a candidate. You know you can find the funding you will need, you don’t mind giving something up to find the time to do your business and you will keep your job until you get success over time. Now you can filter your options down to the ones that are desirable enough to be considered as possibilities.
Next, select a type of business. Internet and affiliate marketing are not a good fit if you are a “people person” or if you are not too hot on the computer, you will end up frustrating yourself. Meeting one on one with prospects or working on the phone a lot fits well with Direct sales and MLM programs. In the same vein, the “Premium product” elite direct sales programs should be avoided unless you know that you have adequate money to enable you to participate as well as doing the lead generation and marketing.
If you have computer skills and want to avoid talking to people at all, you will want to focus on learning Internet marketing and selecting some affiliate marketing programs. There is a myriad of information available on these subjects which you can access with a simple Google search. be warned though, it is definitely a ‘buyer beware’ environment. You are encouraged and advised to do some serious research before getting in to deep.
Network marketing or MLM as it is often called has a low entry point and suits a lot of folks because of that. However, you will still need some cash for advertising and marketing. Usually if there is no marketing, there are no sales and no sales equals no income!
Be sure that the people you will be working with provide training and have a system in place that has a proven track record of success.
Network Direct sales has emerged over recent years as a popular ‘hybrid’ combination that has some of the elements of a franchise without the massive financial outlay because it is still run as a home based enterprise.
The programs have the social networking aspect that attracts people to Network marketing. People do tend to take the businesses more seriously because of the higher incomes generated by the direct sales of the high end products which include things like travel programs and personal development seminars at magnificent destinations.
For those that can afford to acquire the products and have access to the resources necessary to do the required marketing , the financial rewards and lifestyle afforded by some of these direct sales models definitely put them up as candidate in the list of best home based business.
This should always be a carefully considered decision after much thought and never hurried. When people don’t give you time to complete your due diligence without pushing you for action, that’s a warning and a sign to “pass”! You do not want to work with those kind of people
You have to find YOUR business, the one that feels right to you. If you answer out loud to yourself the question “What is it that you do?”How does describing the business you are considering make you feel? Is it a positive emotion that is created? If you don’t get the warm fuzzies, keep searching.
And consider what products you will be selling. There has to be products sales, without that you will end up in a Ponzi scheme or a money game so no product, move on!
Are you excited by the product? Does it fell right to you, can you be proud of it?
If you feel any trepidation about endorsing the product heed the warning! Go with your gut and do not associate yourself with something that you are doubtful about
“It will pay well so the product is not important”
To get excited by the pay plan without feeling good about everything else is a recipe for disaster.
Once you choose your business, you will need to demonstrate a genuine passion. False excitement is easily discerned and just plain pointless.
Unfortunately these days, most people do make their decisions too quickly and end up joining something because their friend likes it or they knew someone that was getting success. These kind of emotional decisions do not bode well in business. To have ANY chance of success, do your due diligence and be as certain as you can that you are choosing wisely.
Go through the check list and make 100% sure that all of these ingredients are in place.
1. Is the product something I will be proud of and will it deliver the value to others?
2. Is is my kind of business? Does it suit me? Do I feel good about it and excited?
3. Does the management/ownership of the company have a proven track record? It does not matter if it is a new business but you don’t want to be the guinea pig
4. is there a system in place? It is systems that make businesses work. Ask to see what tools are available and what level of support and training you have access to. Beware though of the “we do it all for you” claims. This is a big red flag. Any business that claims that you will not have to work will turn out not to be a business so rather then just gamble in the stock market or on real estate. Real business always require some work, end of story.
5. Is there a fair and rewarding compensation system? This is left until last because if all the others are in place , the money will usually take care of itself. Do not fall into the trap of wanting to become a compensation plan expert. Doing that, often causes people to focus on the money above everything else and as we have discussed, that is dangerous . It is easy to make a compensation plan look lucrative , but if the other factors have not been properly addressed, the company will not survive and your efforts will be wasted.
If any of these 5 ingredients are not in place keep searching until you find a situation where they are. Then you have a starting point.
It is then your prerogative to DO something, don’t forget the most important thing; be decided that you will commit a minimum of 12 to 36 months and never let quitting be an option. A person cannot fail if they refuse to quit.
Be realistic, if you cannot give that level of commitment, don’t waste time or money on getting started because you are sure to end up not succeeding.
Use the benefit of someone else’s mistakes so that you don’t have to make them. A bit of common sense now will save you from making big errors later.

Feeling Burnt Out With Elur?
July 6th, 2010
I just ended a call with a Facebook friend. She was riding the downside of the emotional roller coaster that is network marketing. She was frustrated with working day in and day out on her building her business online without getting a lot of results! Does that sound familiar? I know it did to me?
This is an all-to-familiar emotion most networking marketers/internet marketers feel, but also Elur distributors! You work each day, and you’ll know if you are REALLY working. Let’s start out first by being really honest! There are those of us who diligently work at building our network marketing business everyday. We make the phone calls, we think outside the box, we write our articles, we do our videos, etc. Then there are those who THINK a lot about their business and think they are really working their business. I know this because that was me! I used to think about my business a lot but it went no where. I didn’t sponsor ONE person. I have learned that I wasn’t in the right company for me. Great company, just not a fit for me. But I worked hard at thinking about things to grow my business, I put my presentations in new folders every other week to be ‘prepared’ for when I had to do a presentation. It was laughable! If this is you, recognize it and change it. Find out what’s holding you back because something is…ask yourself: Do I believe in network marketing at a profession? Do I believe in my company? Do I believe I can be a successful network marketing professional? Those are the three categories that sometimes hold people back. If you answered ‘no’ to anyone of those questions, than now is the time to tackle it and change your beliefs. Without these beliefs, then NOTHING you do will lead you to be successful. Period. You must first get over that hump before you go any further.
So, back to the subject at hand. Burnout. Network Marketing is not hard! It’s a great profession because the smartest, most successful person in one industry could be a MLM failure and a high school drop out could be an MLM top earner with Elur! Look at Randy Gage! He dropped out of school in the 8th Grade and look at his success! What separates him from people who have tried MLM, quit MLM, and swear MLM doesn’t work? Diligence! He practiced diligence when many haven’t and won’t! What he knew, that I learned in ‘The Slight Edge’ by Jeff Olsen, is that small, minute daily tasks compounded over time = BIG, MASSIVE success! Small, minute tasks done one week here, one week there = ELUR failure!!
You can bed that you will have many days where you work 6 hours on your business and have NOTHING to show for it. Here is the norm in our profession: distributor talks to a few people, calls them to book and appointment, doesn’t get one phone call back, does it again a day or two later, same results, quits the business thinking it doesn’t work. They now have a bad taste about network marketing. Randy Gage is the biggest loser of us all! Why? Because he’s met more ‘no’s’ and more rejection than anyone! But look at his achievements! A multi-million dollar business with 100′s of thousands of people in his organization. Do you think he’s grateful he kept going?
So, know this. You will reach a time when you are burnt out, ready to throw in the towel and just frustrated. Realize this: this is when most quit…the ‘average,’ the ‘mediocre,’ the ‘losers’ who want things to be easy. Are you one of those? I’m not. Yes, I get frustrated. Yes, I get burnt out, however, I keep going. Why? Because I’m a ‘winner,’ a ‘successful entrepreneur,’ ‘a champion.’ I made a decision a little while ago not to be mediocre. So, you have to make that decision as well when you’re feeling the dip of the roller coaster! Be a loser? Or be a champion? It’s YOUR choice, no one else’s. There’s no one else to blame for your lack of success in Elur!
If you are feeling burnt out with Elur right now, you probably need to know how to market it like a pro! Click the link below to learn how to market your business and get out of the funk! You will be extremely pleased with this knowledge!
